BRAD CARTER STUDIOS

About Brad Carter
So let's get to know me, shall we? I grew up on farmland just below Macon, Georgia. I secretly wanted to to be either a rockstar (let's forget I said that), or an actor, but I had absolutely no clue how or where to start, and no one to ask. It was embarrassing to even say out loud, so I didn't. I just couldn't understand how people like me could even get inside a TV, or up on that huge movie screen. "Me up there? Impossible". Keep in mind there was no Google at the time, much less Youtube, and to be fair there wasn't even an internet! (Yes I'm that old, shut up).
I would wind up not following my heart and spending a lot of wasted time going to art school, all because I didn't have the courage to admit what I wanted to be, an actor. Fast-forward, I graduated from Valdosta State University in 1997 with a Bachelors in Fine Arts. It's basically an expensive piece of paper in a dusty frame somewhere in a closet. What a waste of my parent's money, (Sorry Mom and Dad).
After I graduated, I just stayed in that college town playing guitar in bars, being a pretty miserable waiter, and working at the world's shittiest theme park, in short I was going no where fast. That's when I saw the late, great, Phil Hartman's life story. I found out he started when he was 27 years old at an improv school in Hollywood called "The Groundlings" and ended up being the oldest member ever hired to Saturday Night Live. I was 27 when I saw that. The idea that you could just START at any age was a revelation to me, so I saved up for a year and a half and moved to LA looking for this mysterious place called "The Groundlings". I'll spare you the rest of the tough-times and lessons to follow. Just know I wouldn't trade it for anything, but it sure would have been nice to have some guidance like what I'm offering here.
It wasn't easy, it was in fact a very hard first few years, but eventually I went on to realize a respectable career as a character-actor in Hollywood. No one is more surprised than I am that I made a career out of it, and I will tell you this, I would have given anything back then to know someone I could have trusted to give me solid advice, tell me all the do's and do-not's, and save me a lot of time, money, and heartaches. So that's why I'm writing all this, to let you know that I've been in your shoes, and I get it.
OK so here's the weird part for me, the gross part where I humble brag about all my achievements as an actor, but I realize I've gotta do it, because that's why you're here, right? OK here goes:
I've studied with some of the best coaches in Hollywood, including years of improv training at both The Groundlings Theater, Improv Olympic, as well as consistently performing stand-up comedy at The World Famous Comedy Store, The Improv, and numerous other clubs in and around Los Angeles. I've been a warm-up host, a voice-over artist, a VO and motion capture artist for video games, a comedy writer for radio ads, award shows, and live-action shows.
I've been lucky enough to share the screen with some of the biggest stars, on some of the most popular TV shows out there. I have been cast as a series regular for an ABC Pilot, and a series regular for one full season for a show on SYFY.
During my time in Hollywood I was a principle in 46 national SAG commercials, including Progressive, Stanley Tools, Pepsi, Jeep, Captain Morgan's, Duncan Donuts, blah blah blah and my personal favorite, the recurring character "Shelly" the Velveeta Shells and Cheese prospector. I'm including this because now that most auditions are "on-tape", you need to be able to knock out a commercial audition with the same confidence as theatrical auditions, and sometimes these are the hardest auditions to figure out on short notice.
Lately you might have seen me as a recurring guest star on the 4th season of Yellowstone, NCIS Hawaii, the 4th season of Ozark, The Rookie: FEDS, a film thriller called Candyland, and soon guest starring on a new Amazon show called "The Runarounds".
Click one of these to check out my IMDB or IMDBPro credits. I'll go ahead and stop talking about myself now. You're welcome.
Whether you are a total beginner who just wants to start with an industry consultation, or you're a seasoned pro who just needs a good coach for that big self-tape, I gotcha covered. And to be brutally honest with you, there are a lot of d-bags out there looking to take advantage of you, from kids classes to headshots, and everything in between, ESPECIALLY in ATLANTA. Yeah I said it. These charlatans are all too happy to drain your bank account while steering you into the murky depths of anonymity.
I am now teaching classes in Atlanta, Nashville, and a zoom class for anyone in the country.
Oh yeah, did I mention I do headshots? No? Well I just did, now you know.
